Lucky last! Here’s Super Nintendo number three, serial UP17548016, and this one has managed to develop an even more exciting collection of faults than the other two.

The good news is that it powers on. The bad news is that there’s no picture and no sound, which doesn’t leave us with an awful lot to look at! It’s also missing the cover over the power LED, and the reset button is broken. Wonderful!

Inside we’ve got another 1CHIP motherboard. I’ve been finding various degrees of capacitor leakage and corrosion amongst these three machines, although I’ll need to check this particular board more closely before deciding what’s responsible for its problems.

The plan is to replace the electrolytic capacitors and see whether anything changes. That doesn’t guarantee we’ll get a working console, of course, but at least it’ll give me somewhere to begin.

So that’s three faulty Super Nintendo consoles, each with a slightly different problem. Between these, the PlayStation and the Xbox repairs I’ve been working on, I’ve certainly got enough to keep myself occupied!
