Tested my Sophia CD deck and SH-1 daughterboard on a retail Saturn with a VA0 mainboard at the request of a member of the ASSEMblergames forums. We were hoping there would be something funky about it being able to read burnt discs, no luck, unfortunately. However, I did learn that the CD deck and SH-1 board are both functional. That sure does make my day. Given there is no way for me to test them inside the Sophia (still missing those SH-2 CPUs…) it is a good result.
I’ll be taking more detailed photos of the Sophia once I begin the slow process of piecing it back together over the next few weeks – yes I am that slow at the moment.
