I can’t believe it worked. I switched from Prolific PL2303 to an FTDI FT232RL USB to serial cable which was recognised natively by the MiSTer as /dev/ttyUSB0.

This means I don’t need to compile a kernel driver thing. One thing led to another and I was able to connect one computer to another and download/upload between two modems on a Windows 95 FPGA implementation at 28800bps! It’s insane the number of levels here. I love it! ❤️
I am working toward being able to browse the olden-days internet, with no https/tls, on some self-hosted Geocities homepages. It’s a massive bunch of data and I have no idea of what the quality will be. 640GB. It’s just another fun project in itself. Another major step was realising that UFW being disabled on the RPi3 meant that the forwarding rules in UFW weren’t active! No packets were passed along the ppp0 connection as a result. Enabled UFW and it came to life, ping was working!
