I ended up mounting the SCSI2SD in my recently sold Sega Dreamcast Katana into a 3D printed sled. I’ve just noticed now that there are plenty of caddies that help them fit into the space of a 3.5″ hard drive. If I did it all again, I’d do it slightly differently now!
I am happy to see that development of the SCSI2SD continues with them now using a full sized SD card and larger PCB. Makes sense in my eyes as it is replacing, in almost all cases, the form factor of a 3.5″ hard drive – pretty darned roomy! On the topic of 50-pin SCSI though, old school Macs must love this solid state solution too. It’s times like this I wish I had my old LC475, but then I remember how much space it took up and how brittle all the plastic was on it. One problem at a time!
