Above is a demo of the TeraDrive using its VGA output alongside composite video from the Mega Drive side.

Interestingly, the Genesis cartridges I tested did not play, while the PAL Mega Drive cartridges I tried did. That should not be taken as a blanket rule for Genesis and PAL compatibility. Mega Drive region behaviour varies depending on the console settings and whether the individual game performs a region check.

The compatible PAL games were running on the TeraDrive’s 60 Hz Mega Drive hardware rather than a normal 50 Hz PAL Mega Drive. With Sonic 1 the change was immediately noticeable in the music and overall pace.

The way it was meant to be played.

That is where this beast beats the Amstrad Mega PC. I find 60 Hz far more enjoyable than 50 Hz.
