Alright, now we are talking technology. Not really relevant to anything Sega… however this little kit itself looked like it was designed in 1981 and marketed by Dick Smith Electronics ever since with no modifications!

In other news, the Sega TeraDrive Model 2 has arrived from Japan and photos are now in the Photo Gallery.

Sega’s own specifications list the Model 2 with 1 MB of RAM and two 3.5-inch floppy drives, but no internal hard drive. The TeraDrive itself launched in Japan on 31 May 1991.

At the time this particular machine looked to me like an early 1991 build, but its serial-number label had sadly been removed. Without that label I cannot substantiate its exact production date.

I’ll have an update with video and a complete teardown once the step-down converter arrives early next week.
