Today I received my White Japanese Model 2 Sega Saturn from Japan. Look at it, isn’t it just the cleanest looking design Saturn you have seen? Well, compared to PAL Saturns at least. I have added it into the photo gallery too. It powers on with no issues through the step down converter, but has a very bad drive mechanism that seems to not know where it is supposed to rest. Very bad clicking noises. I bought it just for the case, but perhaps there is hope to repair it…
And here is the Dreamcast I received. It seems to be a VA0 – Metal fan and all! What are the chances? Very unreal and the box was in immaculate condition. Lots of paperwork and documents. I have added a new photo gallery just for it in the photo gallery under Sega Dreamcast 058007003298.
Also this morning I checked out the power readouts from the TeraDrive with a multimeter and found the voltages are:
Red - 5V Red - 5V Yellow - 12V Black - Ground Black - Ground Black - Ground
Perfect! Just as was predicted, good on IBM / Sega for sticking to known PC colour coding standards of the time. Makes my life easier when considering whether to replace the internal PSU with something like a PicoPSU. I’ve been messaging back and forth with Nemesis via the ASSEMblergames forums and compared his photos with my Sega TeraDrives, Model 2 and Model 3, and they have the same controller chips. Hacking-Cult.org is where his photos are hosted and an active thread he is on SpritesMind.net.
