Here’s my prized Nixie clock from Chronix, which I picked up a few months ago.

I thought I’d throw a video online showing its slot-machine-style anti-cathode-poisoning routine. It rapidly cycles through the digits so cathodes that do not normally get much display time are periodically lit as well.

It also looks pretty cool while doing it.

I should have some more photos and documentation up this weekend.

Update (2013): I replaced the NiCad battery in this particular clock with a NiMH cell and it worked successfully.

That does not mean NiCd-to-NiMH replacement is automatically safe in every piece of equipment. Suitability depends on the charging circuit, charge current and the replacement cell itself.
