Another blood donation, another excuse to raid the free snacks! I’ve just returned from donating blood and thought I’d give everyone another little update on my weight loss progress. And perhaps eat a ridiculous amount of junk food while I’m at it.
First up, the hair! Or lack thereof. I’ve shaved my head, which has two distinct advantages. I save money on shampoo and I get to wear this rather magnificent hat. What more could you possibly want?
The scales are now showing 71.6 kg, with an estimated body-fat percentage somewhere around 16 to 16.5%. Not bad considering where I started earlier in the year! I’m still aiming for 70 kg, at which point I’ll need to work out how to maintain my weight rather than continue losing it.
But enough about that. Let’s get onto the important business of eating things!
We’ve got pretzels, Mentos, a KitKat and an enormous cookie from the Byron Bay Cookie Company. Magnificent! I’ve been rather restrictive with my diet over the past few months, so the occasional opportunity to enjoy some junk food is very welcome indeed.
The donation itself went reasonably well. Last time I managed to start bleeding from my donor arm afterwards, so I’ve been trying not to do anything silly with it this time. Easier said than done when you keep forgetting which arm you’ve used!
I also managed to get distracted watching the blood collection equipment. There’s something fascinating about all those tubes and machines. Unfortunately, I was so busy looking at everything that I wasn’t paying enough attention to squeezing the thing they’d given me, and the machine started complaining.
Apparently you’re meant to cooperate with the equipment. Who knew?
One particularly nice thing is that the blood service has started sending out text messages telling donors where their blood has gone. It’s rather satisfying knowing that something you’ve donated has actually gone somewhere useful.
In other news, I’ve been clearing out some of the excess computers and consoles from my collection. There’s one fewer Sega TeraDrive around here, and the Amstrad Mega PC has moved on too. I’m hoping to get everything else neatly arranged inside a bookcase. We’ll see how that goes!
I’ve also got something like 258 GB of video footage waiting to be edited. Yes, really. And here I am making another video instead of working through the old ones.
Oh well. At least I’ve got a new couch to sit on while I think about it.
Anyway, that’s another donation completed and another little weight update out of the way. Now, where did I put the rest of those sweets?
