There’s nothing more exciting than finding rubbish on the side of the road that is electronic! This morning as I left for work I noticed a PC out the front of my home, it looked wet… it had been raining overnight. I noticed two DVI ports over two PCI slots. A double wide video card! Unfortunately I was in a rush to get to work, so I had to leave it.
When I returned home I found that it was still there! Grabbed it and dumped it in my bathroom. Took it apart and found a delightful cockroach infestation in the power supply. Needless to say it was thrown out… after a lizard fell out of it… and ran off… more videos to come later in the week.
The machine appears to be a 2010 model from what I can tell. Below are the specifications of the various functional parts. Sadly there was no hard drive and the optical drive was corroded pretty bad. The heatsink was a stock Intel one. You know, the ones that cause the motherboard to bend and are impossible to clip down properly…
– Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2P Motherboard
– Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8400 (4M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB) Socket LGA775
– Gigabyte GV-R577UD-1GD AMD Radeon HD 5770 GPU 1GB GDDR5
– 2x2GB of 1333MHz RAM
But overall, not a bad deal for the price of free! 😉
