I’ve decided my videos need background music. At the time I came across Freeplay Music and thought I’d found the answer to my problems. No more relying on iMovie’s built-in music!
As for the actual editing, Final Cut Pro X still doesn’t quite cut it for me. I keep coming back to iMovie 9.0.8, even though it has an irritating collection of bugs. One of my favourites is the strange Cmd-H behaviour where iMovie disappears and doesn’t seem particularly interested in returning. That’s always helpful when you’re trying to get a video finished.
For the quick videos I’ve been making, iMovie is still considerably easier for me to work with than Final Cut Pro X. It might have a few interesting ideas about how software ought to behave, but at least I know my way around it.
Of course, the real star of the video above isn’t either editing application. It’s the lizard that escaped from the 600 W power supply in the Core 2 Quad machine I rescued from the side of the road. Apparently the computer hardware around here has started arriving with its own wildlife.
Update 8th February 2018: Background music was a terrible idea…
