Happy New Year, Slinky! It’s the 6th January 2020 and we’re back to visit our friend Slinky, the Senegal bichir (Polypterus senegalus). After all the hiding places and bubble adventures towards the end of 2019, it’s nice to start another year with a familiar face. Slinky had become quite a character around the community tank, and I was always happy to spend a bit of time watching what was happening.
Just over a week later, we’re visiting Slinky again! Sometimes there’s no particular reason to get the camera out beyond wanting to spend a little time with a friend. I rather enjoyed these quieter moments around the aquarium, particularly when everybody was simply going about their day.
Then we hit the 4th February and we’re off to a rather dramatic start! Slinky might have been given the title of king of the tank, but I don’t think anybody mentioned anything about becoming a rampaging monster!
A little over a week later, it’s dinner time! On the 13th February, Slinky is eating a Massivore Delite pellet, one of the prepared foods designed for carnivorous fish. Feeding time was always worth paying attention to, particularly with different friends sharing the aquarium and everybody having their own way of finding something to eat.
By the 21st February, Slinky is zooming around again! There’s certainly been a bit of variety this month, between the feeding adventures and the occasional outbreak of Senegal bichir mayhem. I never quite knew what would be worth recording when I visited the tank, which was part of the enjoyment of spending time with everybody.
And on the 28th February, we’ve got more Slinky feeding adventures, this time with dried worms! A change from the Massivore Delite pellet earlier in the month, and another opportunity to spend some time with Slinky.
