Slinky is back! On the 10th November 2019, we’ve got the resident Senegal bichir (Polypterus senegalus) breathing underwater, just one of the two ways to breathe! Yes, actual lungs, as well as gills. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but how could I not? Most people don’t expect their aquarium fish to need a trip to the surface for a breath. Slinky, of course, isn’t most aquarium fish.

A week later, it’s time for some Slinky swimming! Between the long body, the little separated dorsal fins and those rather distinctive movements, there’s plenty to admire. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the tiny finlets along the back. A whole row of fins! Who came up with that idea?

Then we hit the 26th November 2019 and it’s time for some Slinky versus bubbles! We also have my original Slinky the Fish article from the same day, because apparently one helping of Slinky simply wasn’t enough. I could watch this little fish zoom about for ages!

On the 5th December 2019, Slinky gets some new hiding plants! That’s an important part of the aquarium too. A fish should have somewhere to retreat when it’s had enough of everybody staring through the glass. Especially when everybody includes me and a camera! The tank isn’t just something for us to look at. It’s where the fish live.

By the 16th December 2019, we’ve got Slinky hiding away again! Apparently it’s back to the great aquarium game of trying to find Slinky. With a whole collection of names including Wiggles, Lizardfish and Night Dragon, you might think one of them would be easier to spot. But Slinky was always the name I liked best.

And from the very same day, Slinky is back with the bubbles! Hiding places one moment, bubble adventures the next. That’s a pretty good collection of Slinky recordings for November and December, and it follows on nicely from the October Slinky adventures.
