Nothing went right in this video and I managed to burn myself a few times.

It just goes to show that not every day is a good day to fix and enhance all things retro.

SNES cartridges that use battery-backed SRAM rely on the battery to retain their save data while the cartridge is unpowered.

If the old save matters, back it up before deliberately disconnecting the battery.

In this case I was working towards a replacement cartridge project, so preserving some treasured NHL 96 save was not exactly the objective.

The battery was either extremely stubborn or knew I had brought the wrong type of holder to install afterwards.
