A quick stroll around the internals of the Sega Mega-CD HAA-2910. This one is a VA0 revision, making it an early Mega-CD. Launch-day console? I can’t prove that from the board revision alone. Sega launched the Mega-CD in Japan on 12 December 1991. Definitely in time for Christmas - probably.

In other news geocities.mcretro.net has had a little bit of work done. Mostly in the way the term “geocities.com” and “www.geocities.com” are handled. Turns out Apache2 has a module called mod_substitute and it appears to work well. Not much is online yet while I primarily use the Athens root as a test bed to find obvious issues and try and fix them server-side before pushing more data online.

One of the more exciting things I’ve come across is the way GeoCities stored pictures, images and line bars: /pictures/, /pictures/icons/ and /pictures/icons/lines/. Lines are inside icons. I mean sure, I guess? Why not!

Slowly but surely I’ll piece together bits and bobs from here, there and everywhere - the internet of old. That said, most of it is coming from that one terabyte GeoCities torrent. Yikes!
