This elegant snake-eyed skink (Cryptoblepharus pulcher) was delivered to me on a winter evening. It was found in a warehouse trapped under old computer equipment. I have no idea how long it had been stuck there, but it was very thin and lethargic, so I was worried it had been without food or water for some time.

I would love to say everything turned out great, but I can’t. The natural world knows no mercy. I never got a definite answer about what happened to the lizard after this. It may not have recovered enough to feed properly, or one of the stronger lizards may have got it. There are no guarantees in life, we can only do our best. 🦎
