Look what’s arrived in the mail! My copy of the Geist Force reproduction for Sega Dreamcast has finally made its way here, courtesy of ASSEMbler and the folk involved in the community project. Even the packaging has had an adventure, judging by the rather substantial holes courtesy of the postal service. Perhaps they’d run out of stamps!
I’d been following the project for a while, so it’s rather nice to finally have one of these in my hands. Geist Force was an unreleased Dreamcast game, and getting a surviving prototype preserved and reproduced for enthusiasts was quite an undertaking.
The reproduction looks absolutely beautiful. I’ve been having a good look at the packaging and everything included, although I haven’t quite decided whether I should open it straight away or just sit here admiring it for a while.
Of course, I could always find a copy of the game data to play and keep this one safely packaged. Whether I can resist opening it for an entire week is another matter!
I was lucky enough to get into the queue for a copy after someone else disappeared from the project, and I’m rather glad things worked out. It’s not every day something like this turns up in the post.
A big thank you to ASSEMbler and everyone else who helped make this happen. This is exactly the sort of unusual Dreamcast history I love seeing preserved, and I’m very pleased to have a copy.
