Here’s the latest addition to the collection.

It cost me a pretty penny, but it is certainly one of the highlights now.

This is a Cross Products SNASM Mega-CD development unit.

Cross Products built the SNASM Mega-CD around modified Mega Drive and Mega-CD hardware, with additional development electronics allowing it to interface with a PC and development tools.

The system evolved into the SNASM2 environment, which is the PC-side hardware I eventually ended up using with this particular unit.

It could also work with dedicated CD-emulation hardware, allowing development data to be supplied from the PC without continually producing physical discs.

For now I’m just enjoying the fact that one is sitting here.

The next jobs are to power it up properly, pull it apart, photograph everything and work out exactly what survived inside.

Looking forward to this one.
