This one’s a bit sad. On the 20th October 2019, I recorded a four-part series called The Death of Cichlid. Cichlid, otherwise known as Angry Hoverboard, was one of the feistier residents of the community aquarium, always wanting to be front and centre. Yes, Angry Hoverboard! What a name! Even Todd the Cod wasn’t safe from being chased away! There was certainly no shortage of attitude from this particular fish.

Quite a change from the usual aquarium adventures, isn’t it? Most of the time there’s a fish swimming about, investigating something or generally getting up to mischief. These recordings aren’t like that. It’s horrible when one of the animals you’ve come to know is dying, even if that animal happens to spend a fair bit of time chasing the neighbours around.

Cichlid had been such a noticeable presence in the aquarium that it’s hard not to think about the little character from before all this happened. The fish who liked to be at the front of everything. The fish who apparently thought Todd the Cod needed a bit of exercise! That’s how I’d rather remember Cichlid.

And sadly, that’s the end of Angry Hoverboard’s story. I would have much preferred another video of Cichlid swimming around and causing trouble, but unfortunately that wasn’t to be. Not every aquarium adventure has a happy ending, and this one certainly didn’t.

Goodbye, Angry Hoverboard.
