Here we go, pulling apart a Japanese Pioneer LaserActive PAC-S1.

I expected the North American PAC-S10 to come apart the same way.

The PAC-S1 and PAC-S10 are the Japanese and North American versions of the Sega PAC respectively, but documented hardware revisions exist, so I would not assume that every internal detail is identical across every unit.

This video documents the particular PAC-S1 I actually had on the bench.

These modules are also notorious for their surface-mount electrolytic capacitors, which is why capacitor removal becomes the next part of this little adventure.
