Here’s the faster version of a little musical mystery that I still haven’t managed to solve. I first uploaded the tune in August 2012, then wondered in February 2013 whether it might sound different if it came from an old game running at PAL 50Hz or NTSC 60Hz. Some older games tied their music playback to the refresh rate, and developers didn’t always account for the difference. So I sped it up to see if it sounded any more familiar. Or possibly even wrong(er).

Here’s how it sounded when I first uploaded it. I’m thinking it might have come from an old keygen, perhaps some tracker music. Maybe a Commodore 64 game? Something from the Amiga? It’s been so long now that I really haven’t got a clue!

Does anybody recognise either version? Leave a comment if you do. Oh wait, there is no comment section on this site. Oh well. I’ll probably never work this one out!
