Here’s something a little bit different! I’ve picked up a DNA testing kit from 23andMe, an American company offering genetic testing. I thought it might be interesting to learn a little more about myself. Knowledge is power, after all! And yes, apparently we’re doing an unboxing video. Sorry, YouTube!

The packaging is rather nice, and the instructions seem straightforward enough. First you register the kit, then fill the little collection tube with saliva, remove the funnel, screw on the cap and give it a shake. There’s even a little biohazard bag included. I’ve always wanted one of those!

Once you’ve filled the tube to the required line, the preservative is released when you fit the cap. Give everything a good shake, seal it up and send it back to the United States. The preservative actually smells a little bit like vinegar. I wonder if that’s what it is? Unfortunately I haven’t got any fish and chips around, so it’s not much use to me either way.

Now we just have to see what the results reveal. Should be interesting!
