Above is the last six months of data showing when I was on phentermine and when I was not. As you can see, the rate of loss didn’t really change that much – but the hunger pains I would have normally experienced were gone. Plus I can’t remember the last time I had a headache. My codeine laced paracetamol / ibuprofen has taken a back seat over the last half a year.
What have I learnt from this? Phentermine is great for stopping hunger. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t eat though, it does mean you should eat less so your body can adjust to smaller meals and eventually the phentermine can be shelved for good. My energy intake is around 55% of where it should be for maintaining my weight, that’s up from 35-40% when I started this weight loss attempt.
As I get closer to my goal I will be powering forward and increasing my energy intake to ~75% to see where it lands me. I’ve even got a pie chart in my diet plan now to see where my energy is coming from. A lot of people stick by a 40% carb, 30% protein and 30% fat. I’m hoping to increase the fat a little and decrease the carbs. Protein is about where I’d like it to be. Don’t want to put too much stress on my kidneys!
Overall though, I’m doing well and should reach my goal of 80kg in mid-August. From there, who knows maybe I’ll lose a little more and create a weight gain buffer. Time will tell. Sooner or later, time will tell.
